Kim had never danced before until some friends convinced her to go swing dancing one Friday night at the end of 2005. She went to Pensacola Swing in FL and took the beginner lesson. While taking the beginner lesson, which was East Coast Swing, she still wasn't fan of dancing. During the dance, she started to really enjoy herself and started attending every Friday night. She soon started taking intermediate lessons. This is where she was introduced to Lindy Hop. After several lessons learning the basics of lindy hop, she soon caught on and fell in love with the dance. From there, she started taking workshops to improve the dances she enjoyed including lindy hop, charleston, and balboa. She also attended exchanges when she could. Not only did she enjoy the dance, but also the friendships that came out of it. The best friendship that came out of dancing was with a guy named Eric who would eventually become her husband.
In 2008 Kim got married to her best friend and favorite dance partner, Eric. In Aug. of 2008 they moved with their two dogs from Florida to Colorado. One of the first things they looked for when they found out the military was sending them to Colorado Springs was swing dancing. They found Swing in the Springs and attended the first week they arrived. Not long after starting, they were asked to join Focus and have enjoyed sharing their knowledge to others since then. In July of 2010 they added a future lindy hopper to the family, Emily. She now spends most her time taking care of her daughter, but still looks forward to making it out to teach and dance whenever she can.
