Jessie’s love for Swing Dancing stems from Asleep at the Wheel concerts that she would attend every summer with her family. Her dad and she would swing dance in the grass to almost every song they played. He taught her everything he knew and when that was not enough they made things up.
Later, Jessie got a bit older and went off to college at University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. When she found a club on campus, she struck out on her own and tried it. It was the first time in a long time that she had found a pastime that was more than something to do, but instead something to belong to. She immediately dove into the swing scene. Dancing and taking classes as often as five nights a week. Since then Jessie has been dancing and competing for four years in cities all over Colorado. Lindy Hop and Blues dancing are her addictions. Along with Andy, Jessie has run the swing dance club, the Lindy Lions, as well as the competition team, The Cat’s Pajamas, through UCCS since 2009. Although she graduates soon to begin her professional year, she plans on sticking around, and keeping up with her dancing.
