Andy learned his first swing out in 2006 in Buena Vista, CO; however, because nobody lives out there he was unable to improve his dancing until he started to attend the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 2008. Finally having the opportunity to dance on a regular basis, Andy began to attend the dances at UCCS and the VFW to improve his dancing. Since 2008, Andy has taken over managing the UCCS Swing Club with Jessie McCosby and began teaching with Focus in 2010. He has competed for two years in the Intercollegiate Swing Battle and is currently preparing for a third competition.

When he is not swinging out, Andy enjoys doing all manner of other nerdy activities. He thoroughly enjoys a good board game and has been playing tabletop war games since his 6th grade history teacher first introduced him to it. During middle school and high school Andy also participated in musical theatre. Andy graduated from UCCS in the winter of 2011 and is currently pursing a career as a museum curator.
